Cantor Abraham Veroba never recorded himself professionally because his priority was to serve the synagogue and to teach younger prospects the true art without memorizing. Praying from the heart, not "by heart." This CD, a rare set of lessons he allowed a student to record, was compiled by entertainer Gershon Veroba, four years after his father passed away. Cantor Veroba rarely recorded his lessons, but the student had a long way to travel and promised to use them for reference only. This is not a performance CD, but a training demonstration of the Rosh Hashanah prayers. faded sympathy is Gary Thrasher (bass and programming), Bethaney Fryer (vocals), and Johnny Mihal (guitars and programming). Formed in Columbus, Ohio in the fall of 2003, faded sympathy combines the post-punk sounds of the early 80's with the early 90's shoegazer swirly wall-of-sound approach to create a dark alternative sound that reflects the bleak outlook of our times. In fall 2001, Gary, formerly of the goth rock bands gossamer and stare, joined up with Johnny, who was seeking to put together a band of his own. Over the next 2 years, Gary and Johnny made several attempts to find the perfect fit. In the fall of 2003, after the defection of their latest singer (the last in a long line), they tried once more to get something going. Gary's old friend Bethaney stepped up to the microphone, and the trio began to write songs at a fast and furious pace. faded sympathy was born. In the fall of 2005, an EP, "four shadows", was released to praise from fans and reviewers alike. They have since released their eponymous debut record on negativeimage records in October 2006. They are currently writing songs for their sophomore album, as well as playing select shows with acts such as She Wants Revenge, Attrition, Autumn, and Iris.
